Tips on Making Asia Chow Mein
If you’ve ever wondered how to make chow mein, wonder no more! This easy-to-follow recipe will have you crafting delicious bowls of this popular Chinese dish in no time.
First, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a tablespoon of oil and swirl to coat. Add the ground pork and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
Next, add the garlic, ginger, and green onions and cook for another minute.
Add the rice and continue cooking until all the liquid has been absorbed about 5 minutes. Stir in the soy sauce, chicken stock, black pepper, and sugar, and boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, place a sheet of wax paper on a work surface. Place half of the egg roll wrappers on the wax paper (save the other half for later). Divide the pork mixture evenly among each wrapper (about two tablespoons per wrapper). Top with one piece of lettuce and one slice of carrot. Roll up each wrapper tightly like a burrito, pressing down along the seams to seal them together. Cut off any extra wrappers or wax paper around your chow mein rolls.
Place your chow mein rolls on top of the hot skillet and cook for 2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce!
